Canada’s alpine skiing team for the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics will be spearheaded by world champions Jack Crawford, Laurence St-Germain, and Marielle Thompson.

Alpine Canada has revealed the roster of 20 athletes who will participate in various events such as downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, team alpine combined, and ski cross during the games.

The 2026 Winter Olympics are set to commence on February 6, with the men’s downhill event scheduled for the following day at Bormio’s Stelvio slope.

Jack Crawford from Toronto secured a super-G world championship, while Laurence St-Germain from Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges, Quebec, clinched a women’s slalom world title in 2023.

Representing Canada in their fourth Olympic Games will be ski cross racers Marielle Thompson from Whistler, B.C., and Brittany Phelan from Mont-Tremblant, Quebec.

Marielle Thompson, who claimed Olympic gold in 2014 and silver in 2022 along with a world championship in 2019, is making a comeback from a knee injury and subsequent surgery last season.

Brittany Phelan earned Olympic silver in 2018.

Although ski cross is classified under the freestyle category globally, Alpine Canada oversees it domestically as a speed discipline.

Seven Women Alpine Skiers Accompany St-Germain

The men’s alpine ski team includes Cam Alexander from North Vancouver, B.C., Jeffrey Read from Canmore, Alberta, and brothers Brodie and Riley Seger from North Vancouver.

Joining Laurence St-Germain on the women’s alpine side are Kiara Alexander from Cochrane, Alberta, Cassidy Gray and Amelia Smart from Invermere, B.C., Valerie Grenier from St-Isodore, Ontario, Justine Lamontagne from St. Ferreol-les-Neiges, Britt Richardson from Canmore, Alberta, and Ali Nullmeyer from Toronto.

Ottawa siblings Jared Schmidt and Hannah Schmidt will be competing in ski cross.

Reece Howden from Chilliwack, B.C., who topped the season World Cup rankings in 2021, 2023, and 2025, along with Kevin Drury from Toronto and Gavin Rowell from Prince George, B.C., complete the men’s ski cross team.
