“Amazon to Impose 3.5% Fuel Surcharge on U.S. and Canada Sellers”

Amazon has announced that a 3.5 per cent fuel surcharge will be applied to fulfillment fees for sellers in the U.S. and Canada. The surcharge, set to take effect on April 17 for Fulfillment by Amazon users and May 2 for Multi-Channel Fulfillment program participants, aims to address rising fuel and logistics costs in the industry. The company stated that it had previously absorbed these cost increases but is now implementing temporary surcharges to help offset them. This move aligns with similar actions taken by other major carriers amid the ongoing global energy crisis triggered by geopolitical tensions. The crisis began with the U.S. and Israel’s attack on Iran, leading to Iran’s closure of the crucial Strait of Hormuz, a key passage for a significant portion of the world’s oil and gas supply. Amazon emphasized its commitment to supporting its selling partners’ success while maintaining a wide product selection and competitive pricing for customers.
