The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for a batch of No Name frozen beef burgers after concerns of E. coli contamination surfaced. The impacted burgers, packaged in 1.36 kg boxes with a best before date of May 5, 2026, were distributed nationwide.
Consumers are urged to discard the affected product or return it to the place of purchase and avoid cooking or consuming the burgers. The CFIA provided an image of the product displaying the best before date and code number for identification purposes.
E. coli O157:H7, if present in contaminated food, may not exhibit visible signs of spoilage but can cause illness. Symptoms of E. coli infection may include nausea, abdominal cramps, vomiting, and watery to bloody diarrhea, with severe cases potentially leading to stroke or kidney damage.
No illnesses related to the recall have been reported thus far. The CFIA is actively investigating the situation and has not ruled out the possibility of additional product recalls.
