“Rapper Cadence Weapon Unveils New Music in Hamilton Concert Series”

Cadence Weapon, also known as Rollie Pemberton, a renowned rapper, writer, and poet originally from Edmonton, is looking forward to showcasing Hamilton as a vibrant music hub and unveiling new music during a series of concerts leading up to the Juno Awards. Having recently relocated from Toronto to Hamilton in 2022, Pemberton, who has been busy with personal milestones like marriage and fatherhood, expressed his admiration for the underrated music scene in the city.

Leading up to the 55th Juno Awards in March, CBC Music is organizing a series of six concerts featuring local artists, with Pemberton headlining one at Bridgeworks on January 23 alongside Danny Miles, a versatile multi-instrumentalist and producer from July Talk. The concert will be recorded for broadcast by CBC Music, where Pemberton plans to introduce tracks from his upcoming album for the first time with a live band.

Despite his limited attendance at shows in recent years due to family commitments, Pemberton has been diligently working on his album titled “Forager,” set to be released on April 24, followed by the publication of his book “Ways of Listening.” Additionally, he hinted at a surprise release later in the year.

Excited about his performance at the Junos event, Pemberton highlighted the electric atmosphere the awards bring to the cities, emphasizing the significant exposure and opportunities they provide to local music scenes. The Road to the Junos concerts will contribute proceeds to the music education charity MusiCounts, further supporting the growth of music education initiatives across Canada.
