“Ottawa Charge Prevails 4-3 in Overtime Thriller”

The Ottawa Charge claimed a 4-3 victory over the New York Sirens in a thrilling overtime match on Tuesday night in Newark, N.J., with Sarah Wozniewicz netting the winning goal. Despite blowing a three-goal lead, Ottawa managed to secure the win.

Contributing to Ottawa’s victory were Gabbie Hughes, Rebecca Leslie, and Brianne Jenner, each scoring a goal and assisting in another. Ottawa, with a record of 3-5-0-6, had their six-game winning streak halted in their previous match against Montreal, where they suffered a 2-1 defeat. Gwyneth Philips made 31 saves for Ottawa.

New York, with a record of 7-0-2-5, showcased a resilient performance, extending their point streak to seven games. Jaime Bourbonnais, Kristin O’Neill, and Anne Cherkowski found the back of the net for the Sirens, with Sarah Fillier providing two assists. Callie Shanahan made 17 saves for New York.

The game saw Hughes, Leslie, and Jenner giving Ottawa an early 3-0 lead, with Bourbonnais, O’Neill, and Cherkowski later responding for New York to tie the game.

Looking ahead, the Ottawa Charge will face off against the Montreal Victoire on Saturday, while the New York Sirens will visit the Minnesota Frost on Sunday.
