“Rob Lantz and Mark Ledwell: Finalists for P.E.I. PC Leadership”

The competition for the upcoming head of the P.E.I. Progressive Conservative party has narrowed down to two candidates. Rob Lantz and Mark Ledwell emerged as the sole contenders for the leadership role before the recent deadline, as confirmed by the party through social media updates.

Rob Lantz, who previously held the position of interim PC leader and premier post the resignation of Dennis King in February 2025, has a background in the private sector as an information technology consultant and involvement in business startups. His political journey saw him serving on the Charlottetown city council for two terms and later becoming an MLA for District 13 in 2023. Lantz stepped down as interim PC leader last month to pursue the permanent leadership position, subsequently succeeded by Bloyce Thompson as P.E.I. premier.

Meanwhile, Mark Ledwell officially announced his candidacy for the party’s leadership in May. With over 35 years of experience in leading intricate agri-food, infrastructure, energy, and financing transactions, Ledwell’s career highlights include pivotal roles in Atlantic Canadian infrastructure projects like the Confederation Bridge and the New Brunswick Trans-Canada Highway. He also held significant positions in law firms in Toronto and London, UK, and recently chaired the board at the Holland College Foundation.

To participate in the leadership contest and vote for the next PC party leader during the upcoming convention on Feb. 7, new members are required to register by Jan. 16, as communicated by the party in its recent social media update.
