“Scooby-Doo Superfan’s Epic Collection Unveiled”

Alexa Lawlor, a 28-year-old from Regina, has amassed a vast collection of Scooby-Doo memorabilia over the years. She has lost count of the number of items in her collection and the amount of money spent acquiring them. Lawlor’s collecting philosophy revolves around the stories behind each item rather than mere accumulation.

Her fascination with Scooby-Doo began in her childhood when she came across a toy belonging to her brother. This initial encounter sparked her love for the franchise, especially during the late 1990s and early 2000s when Scooby-Doo merchandise was popular due to the release of live-action movies.

Lawlor’s collection has grown significantly, taking up a significant portion of her living space with items ranging from vintage jigsaw puzzles and VHS tapes to character reference guides used by Hanna-Barbera staff. Noteworthy pieces include a character model sheet, a Scooby-Doo storyboard, and a framed comic book ad promoting the original TV show from 1969.

Her collecting adventures extend beyond physical stores to online marketplaces, flea markets, and garage sales. Lawlor’s keen eye for spotting potential additions, which she humorously refers to as her ‘Scooby Sense,’ has led to unique finds, such as convincing a man at the Calgary Stampede to sell her a giant stuffed Scooby-Doo toy he had just won.

In addition to her collecting passion, Lawlor hosts a podcast titled “The Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo.” This project emerged during the pandemic as a way for her to combine her journalism background with her love for the franchise. Through the podcast, she has had the opportunity to interview individuals connected to Scooby-Doo, including Frank Welker, the voice behind “Fred.”

Lawlor’s affinity for the Scooby-Doo franchise stems from its timeless appeal and relatable characters. She finds comfort in the show’s ability to blend mystery, humor, and a touch of nostalgia, making it a beloved part of her life.
