Goldeneyes Stage Comeback to Stun Fleet

Claire Thompson, Sophie Jaques, and Izzy Daniel each netted goals in quick succession during the third period to lead the newly-formed Vancouver Goldeneyes to a thrilling 4-3 triumph over the Boston Fleet on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit as part of the Takeover Tour.

Despite Jamie Lee Rattray putting Boston ahead 3-1 just 19 seconds into the final period, in front of a crowd of 33,871 – the third largest attendance in league history, Vancouver (3-1-1-5) showed resilience. Thompson scored at 4:21, followed by Jaques’ power-play goal at 8:01, leveling the score. This marked the second time in their last 14 attempts that the Goldeneyes scored with an extra skater.

Daniel then secured the lead for the Goldeneyes 3:22 later, with goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer ensuring their victory.

Assists came from Tereza Vanišová and Michela Cava on Thompson’s goal, with Daniel providing her first assist on Jaques’ tally. Hannah Miller contributed with her third assist, adding another on the game-winner, while Jenn Gardiner was credited with her third assist.

Boston took an early lead with Olivia Mobley scoring just 4:22 into the game with assists from Ella Huber and Rylind MacKinnon. Miller quickly responded with an unassisted goal to tie the score.

Susanna Tapani then put Boston back in front with a goal to make it 2-1. The second period remained scoreless with both teams registering 12 shots each, following Boston’s 16-4 shot advantage in the first period.

Aerin Frankel made 17 saves for the Fleet, while Maschmeyer stopped 24 shots for the Goldeneyes. This victory for Vancouver marked their first win in six away games during the 2025-26 PWHL Takeover Tour.
