Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shares pilot’s terrifying admission as plane suffers malfunction
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has shared his terror after his plane had a malfunction whilst in the air. Dwayne was travelling from Hawaii to Houston when the plane suffered a technical error.
The pilot of the private jet told the superstar that there was an issue with the plane around half an hour into their journey. He recalled the incident in a post on social media, describing it as “a sign from God and the universe”.
He said: “It’s just me on the plane, just me and the crew – and he says, ‘Mr Johnson, I’m sorry to inform you but we cannot continue to fly over the ocean. We have a problem.’ He said there are some issues we can work out while we’re in the air but there are some issues we’re not gonna take a chance with, especially over the ocean.
“You start to realize really quickly the s*** that’s really important in life and then you realize the s*** that doesn’t matter, that you’ve been thinking about and worrying about. Anyway – I had one of those moments.”
He admitted he was feeling “grateful” to just be on the ground. He told his fans on his social media: “Bottom line is: I’m grateful to be back on the ground. I’m grateful to be back home in Hawaii.”
Dwayne was meant to be in Texas for the United Football League, which he helped to co-found. “Super bummed I can’t be in Texas but so grateful we were able to land the plane safely,” he said, “So sorry to our @TheUFL fans, players, coaches, staff and our teams at @FOXSports @espn I’m not there. Let’s have a great season 2 opening weekend, have fun, and ball out.”
Fans of The Rock rushed to the comment section to say how glad they were that he was safe. One wrote: “super glad your crew and you landed safely champ,” whilst another added: “Oh wow. Happy you are safe. Another game will happen.”
“We missed you in Texas today brotha but INFINITELY more grateful you are safe and on the ground. Plane problems are nothing to mess with!” a third said, with a fourth adding: “Glad all is well and safe travels.”
Dwayne went on to thank the pilot for his calm demeanour despite the emergency. He said: “It was a hydraulics issue with the overheating. His name was Captain David. I appreciate his demeanour in that moment …
“We’ve all experienced turbulence on aeroplanes. Some of us, I’m sure, like you guys have experienced some really crazy turbulence where drinks are flying and luggage is flying and you can’t help but think, it’s human nature, ‘Is this it? Is this how I check out?'”
