Pierce Brosnan’s glam granddaughter twin of his tragic late wife as they attend afterparty
Pierce Brosnan was supported by his granddaughter as they attended the afterparty of the MobLand premiere. The 71-year-old James Bond icon invited his 26-year-old granddaughter Isabella, who looked out of this world in a black-and-white two-piece formal outfit and a black blazer.
007 star Pierce rocked a black two-piece suit and a black scarf as he guided his granddaughter through the crowd. Pierce and Isabella are close and kept a strong bond after her mother Charlotte – who is his adopted daughter – died from ovarian cancer aged 41 in 2013. Charlotte was the daughter of Pierce’s first wife, Cassandra.
Charlotte and her younger brother Christopher, 52, were adopted by Pierce after their dad, Dermot Harris, died in 1986. Charlotte’s mother, Cassandra, died of ovarian cancer in 1991.
Isabella’s mother took the Brosnan surname and welcomed Isabella and Lucas with partner Alex Smith. However, she tragically died weeks after tying the knot with him in 2013.
Pierce and Cassandra share a biological son Sean, now 41. He is also father to Dylan, 28, and Paris, 24, who he welcomed with Keely Shay Smith, 61.
He usually keeps his private life away from the spotlight but spoke about the women in his life at the Stand Up To Cancer telethon last year.
The actor called himself ‘a man who has watched the women he loved so much struggle with great pain.’
He explained: “To watch someone you love to have his or her life eaten away bit by bit by this insidious disease, that kind of sorrow becomes an indelible part of your psyche.
“I held the generous, strong, beautiful hand of my first wife Cassie as ovarian cancer took her life much too soon. And just last year, I held the hand of my funny, wonderful daughter Charlotte before she too died from this wretched, inherited disease.”
It comes after Pierce said he hasn’t ruled out a return to the 007 franchise – as he gives his backing to another actor for the iconic role.
Taking on the role of the formidable spy between 1995 and 2002, Pierce previously said whoever takes on the part must be British and stay true to history after Amazon took creative control of the it.
In a new interview he said being involved with the new films was a “delightful kind of notion to contemplate” – whilst giving his seal of approval to front runner Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Discussing rumours about him potentially playing an older James Bond figure, Pierce, 71, says: “No-one’s spoken to me about it. I’ve heard all of the rumours. Listen, let’s see where the wind takes us.”
